TC Updates
There have been five commits this week and each one resulted in a build. The first four were from Meanmon and Snow and were adjustments to vehicles. The fourth was from Eruptor and included the following exciting notes:
‘Updated creature AI. When creature sees a player within attack range, it needs to build up some ‘aggro’ before attacking. Also, if creature gets attacked by player outside the creature’s aggro range, the creature may take a few shots before he identifies the attacker. If a player is prone, the creature will find it harder to identify the attacker.
This is the initial build for handling postures. Creatures seeing incapacitated or dead players will drop aggro to that player. When a player get incapacitated or dies, aggro from creatures caused by hitting the lair will be dropped. This behavior should give an incapacitated player a better chance to escape, thus fixing bug 0001270: Mobs Incap Me Immediately After Recovery from Incap Resulting in Triple Incap/Death.
Also fixed issue 0001269: Pistol Range is Not Correct. Changed pistol and carbine max range to 35 resp. 50 meters. We still lack proper handling of weapons range, speed, modifiers etc., but this should be a step in the right direction.
I hope you will all get out in the wilds around Bestine and give these mobs a good workout!
Testing News
Most of you who are still actively testing should have received an invitation to a Google spreadsheet that contains the beginnings of our Regression Testing program. Using some of Tomcat’s materials for new testers, I began building lists of things that ought to be checked on a regular basis. Our purpose is to make sure that new features and additions do not have a negative effect on systems and features that are already working.
For example, while we were all happily killing rats and rills, we failed to notice that the bazaar had developed some serious problems, including the absence of images and some text, as well as a potential for bazaar related crashes! This was not good!
The Regression Testing Lists are ‘living documents’ and can be added to by any tester. If something needs to be there and has been overlooked, feel free to add it! Feel free to add topics that may have been forgotten. But please don’t take things off the list!
As you are aware, each of us should be putting in at least three hours a week on the TC. If you are one of those who wonders, “What should I be doing?” here is a possible answer! We need to check these items every month. As for BIG things like trainers, we will test one or two professions per month, until we have checked them all .... and then we begin again!
We added a new tester this week. Welcome Mailek who joins us from Kauri and is well acquainted with Snow and Temploiter. We are glad to have you with us!
Also we are pleased to have Dressari back from his month long ramble across the USA! We are glad he had a safe and enjoyable trip and also very happy to have him back testing with us.
Other News
Twice this week, the swganh.com site was hacked and some malicious code was inserted. Snow advises us all to run a scan on our desktops to make sure that we are not infected. If you would like further details about the possible infection please visit:

Snow is working on finding out where this originated, but offers apologies and observes that some people have too much free time on their hands... http://swganh.com/anh_community/images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Reminders
Please remember that you really must be in the irc when you are on the TC. This was brought home to some of us very clearly the other night when a tester logged off the irc, but stayed on the TC. He missed the request from Mugly and Meanmon to stop using vehicles because they were crashing the zone. The tester, who was no longer in irc, didn’t get the word and kept pulling out a bike. Every time we would restart it, CRASH! The rest of the testers were forced to log off and were a little annoyed!
And finally folks, if you crash a zone, please tell someone! Even if no one appears to be awake in the irc at the time of your crash, write it out! It will be read in a scroll back. Tell us what you were doing at the time and how you think you crashed it. This is to help us find out why it is happening. It is not so we can come back and holler at you! http://swganh.com/anh_community/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif
